South Africa v Australia: 2nd T20
Australia won the first Twenty20 International against South Africa with a five-wicket victory in the opening match of the series at Cape Town.
The two teams now move on to Johannesburg this Sunday for the completion of the T20 series ahead of a three-match ODI series and a two-match Test series.
Australia’s young and inexperienced bowling attack took most of the plaudits as Doug Bollinger and James Pattinson each took a wicket and Pat Cummins took three on debut.
“It was the difference between chasing 160 and what we did chase [147],” said captain Cameron White of Cummins’ performance. “It doesn't seem like much but when the game is getting close those few runs make a difference.”
While it was the Australian bowlers that took the plaudits the innings of substance with the bat came from Man of the Match Shane Watson. He scored 52 to set Australia on their way, top scoring with six 4s and two 6s.
The Queensland all-rounder is available to back at odds of 3/1 with Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») to top score once again. David Warner, who came into the first match on the back of two unbeaten T20 centuries but was run out for naught, is also available to back at 3/1.
In the Match Odds market the hosts are quoted at Evens to level the series while Australia are 4/5 to seal a 2-0 series victory.
