Donald aims to make history
Luke Donald is looking to make history by becoming the first player to top the end-of-season money lists both in Europe and the USA.
The Englishman currently leads the way in Europe by more than one million euros, but across the Atlantic he needs a top two finish to keep his dream alive.
Webb Simpson currently tops the US standings heading into the final tournament of the season at Disney having overtook Donald last weekend and the duo have been paired together for the opening two rounds this weekend.
“Everyone knows why I'm here and I'll give it my best shot,” said Donald.
“It would be great to go out there and try and win this event. Hopefully that would be good enough to win the money title.”
If Donald is second, or tied for second, Simpson needs a top eight or top 21 finish respectively to take the overall title. Anything less than that from the American would see Donald remain on course to etch his name into the history books.
Totesport currently price Donald at odds of 8/1 to win the Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals Classic this weekend, Simpson is the 10/1 second-favourite in the betting.
