Donald tops US money list
Luke Donald won the Disney Classic to clinch top spot in the US PGA Tour money list for 2011 and remain on course for a historic double.
The Englishman is bidding to become the first player in history to top the money list on both sides of the Atlantic and currently leads the European list by more than £1 million.
Donald trailed American Web Simpson going into last weekend’s season ending event but carded a final round 64, including six birdies on the back nine, to take both the Disney title and top the money list.
“I wasn't too happy with my swing earlier in the week but it's nice to do it under pressure. All credit to [coach] Pat Goss and the good team I have around me,” said Donald.
“It's been a tremendous year for me. I answered a lot of critics' questions coming here knowing I had to win, and doing it.”
Donald is now priced at odds of 1/25 by Bet365 to complete the money list double by winning the Race To Dubai 2011.
The 33-year-old will now be looking to win his first ever major and can be backed at odds of 4/1 with Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet ») to do so in 2012.
