Flower hints at ODI changes

England coach Andy Flower has hinted that they could make changes to the England ODI side following their embarrassing 5-0 whitewash in India this month.

England lost all five of the ODI matches by a convincing margin as the batsmen failed to cope with the Indian spinners on the subcontinent pitches. The final match in particular saw England lose 10 wickets for just 47 runs as they crumbled from 129-0 to 176 all out.

“I'm sure there will be one or two changes going into the tour against Pakistan,” Flower told BBC Sport.

“We will get home and reflect - then make reasoned judgements.

“One thing any coach will tell you is you don't make snap judgements at the end of a defeat when you're making decisions about people's careers.

“I think we do have to look at the way some of our batsmen have played spin out here. There's no doubt about that.”

England face India in a one-off Twenty20 match this Saturday as they look to salvage some pride from their short tour.

Bookmaker Totesport (Go to Totesport ») have India down as the 8/13 favourites for victory at Eden Gardens, while England are priced at odds of 5/4.

England’s winter schedule then resumes with three Test matches against Pakistan in Dubai. The first of which begins on January 17.
