Murray contemplates injury

Andy Murray is considering his future in the ATP Tour World Finals after aggravating a groin injury in his opening match defeat to David Ferrer.

The Scot received treatment on his groin between the first and second set and decided to carry on before losing the match 6-4 7-5.

“I had a problem with my groin,” said the British number one. “I'll decide on Tuesday whether or not I keep playing.

“I've been carrying it - it was something that happened in training.”

Murray is scheduled to face Tomas Berdych on Wednesday, but will be replaced by Jank Tipsarevic should he opt to withdraw.

“I didn't know exactly how it was going to feel on the court today,” added Murray.

“I can [technically] decide until one minute before the match on Wednesday but I'll see how I feel tonight and tomorrow and decide.”

The world number three went into the tournament as the second favourite behind Roger Federer. However, following his loss and the recurrence of the problematic injury he has now drifted out 16/1 with bookmaker Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports »).

Federer remains the 7/5 favourite with Novak Djokovic at odds of 9/4 and Rafael Nadal at 9/2.
