Trump takes UK title

Judd Trump won the UK Championship snooker title by beating Mark Allen 10-8 in a thrilling final on Sunday evening.

Trump took the first frame of the match, be fore Allen hit back to win the next three and take a 3-1 mid-session lead. Trump then hit back to win the next seven consecutive frames and make it 8-3. But just as the World Championship finalist looked to be cruising towards his second ranking title, Allen hit back winning five of the next six to make it 9-8.

With the pressure mounting on Trump at an exponential rate it looked as though we could be heading to a final frame decider. But in the 18th frame Trump managed to hold it together and seal the title.

“It feels amazing,” said Trump after the match. “At 8-3 I just tried to be patient and wait for chances, but he didn't miss a ball. He was like a machine, he just kept making centuries. I had to make a good break under pressure to win because if it had gone 9-9 he would have been favourite.”

Trump is now available to back at odds of 9/1 with William Hill (Go to William Hill ») for next month’s Masters and is the 7/1 second-favourite for the World Championships at The Crucible next April.
