Little Mix odds-against for Christmas number one
X Factor winners Little Mix are made the betting outsiders in the race for the Christmas number one spot as the Military Wives Choir look set to claim top spot.
X Factor winners have become accustomed to claiming the coveted Christmas number one in recent years as Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, Leon Jackson and Alexandra Burke all hit the top spot in consecutive years.
That trend was halted by an anti-establishment, anti-X Factor campaign that saw Rage Against the Machine’s Killing in the Name take top spot in 2009. However, 2010 X Factor winner Matt Cardle reignited the trend by landing the Christmas number one last year.
Little Mix’s cover of the Damien rice hit Cannonball was released following their victory on the talent show last Sunday. But it is the Military Wives Choir with Wherever You Are that currently heads the betting.
Betfred (Go to Betfred ») make Military Wives Choir their 2/9 favourites with the X Factor winners at odds of 9/2.
Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit is also quoted in the betting, at odds of 20/1, following a Facebook campaign similar to the one that saw Rage Against the Machine take top spot two years ago.
