Big Bucks lands 14th consecutive win

The outstanding Big Buck’s won his 14th consecutive race by winning Saturday’s Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, and is now a best price of 8/13 to win an unprecedented fourth successive World Hurdle.

The Paul Nicholls trained stayer beat stablemate Five Dream and Restless Harry to claim the Long Walk and will now be rested until March when he attempts to make history.

“Big Bucks home safe and sound and pleased with himself! Next run will now be the World Hurdle @ Cheltenham,” said Nicholls on Twitter after the race.

Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet ») now quotes the eight-year-old at a best price of 8/13 for the feature race on day three of the Festival, while William Hill (Go to William Hill ») go 4/5 that he remains unbeaten for the season.

“He's an incredible stayer with loads of pace,” said jockey Ruby Walsh on Saturday.

“He's just a really good horse. Two strides and he came alive.

“He's maturing and going right-handed wasn't an issue.”

Big Buck’s’ win at Ascot put him into the record books by going one better than Bula’s wining run of the 1960s and is now widely considered the greatest staying hurdler in history.
