Hughes in line for QPR job
Mark Hughes is set to takeover as manager of Queens Park Rangers after holding talks with the London club following the sacking of former boss Neil Warnock.
Hughes held preliminary talks with the club on Monday evening before discussing things further on Tuesday morning.
“I have to be clear in my mind that it is the right decision for me, there’s a will to get where we both feel comfortable,” said Hughes when interviewed outside Loftus Road.
“One factor that concerns me is that I am an ambitious manager and have to make sure the club meets those ambitions.”
Hughes left Fulham at the end of last season after guiding the club to an eighth place finish. However, he was expected to takeover a more established Premier League club.
Rangers are currently quoted at odds of 15/8 for relegation by Skybet (Go to Skybet »), and 7/1 to achieve a top 10 finish. The Rs are just one point above the relegation zone having not won any of their last eight Premier League games. A 1-1 FA Cup draw against MK Dons proving the final nail in the coffin of Warnock’s tenure.
