Murray in to 4/1 for maiden slam title
Andy Murray is now available to back at odds of 4/1 for the 2012 Australian Open after progressing to the semi-finals of the tournament, where he will meet defending champion Novak Djokovic in a repeat of last year’s final.
The world’s top four have all progressed to the semis and Roger Federer will meet Rafael Nadal on the other side of the draw. The Swiss is made the 4/7 favourite to win that match with Nadal available to back at odds of 11/8.
“The 'Big 4' have progressed as expected, but for Andy Murray backers, not much has changed since the start of the tournament, as he still has to beat the world number one and Federer or Nadal if he is to claim his first Major title,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
Murray is the 7/4 outsider to beat world number one Djokovic, while the Serb is quoted at 4/9.
Despite a comfortable quarter-final victory over Kei Nishikori the Scot is conscious of the need to improve his service in order to clinch the title.
“It was tough. I didn't serve well but the returning was good,” said the world number four.
“I need to serve better. My game has been getting better each match and I am moving better and I am going to be fresh going into the weekend.”
