Pakistan favourites for whitewash

Pakistan are the betting favourites to complete a 3-0 series whitewash over England when the sides meet for the final test in Dubai this week.

England’s batsmen squandered a prime opportunity to level the series when set just 145 to level the series in the second Test last week. Mont Panesar had spun the tourists to a commanding position in the match, but England’s top order were bamboozled by Abdur Rehman and Saeed Ajmal and were skittled out for 72 as only Andrew Strauss and Matt Prior reached double figures.

Coral (Go to Coral ») now make Pakistan the 13/8 favourites to win the third Test, with England at odds of 7/4 and the draw at 2/1.

“We priced England at 2-1 following their second Test collapse, so there was some support for them, but that has all but dried up now as punters look to Pakistan to complete an improbable clean sweep in a series that has been kind to the layers so far,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

England could be without Ian Bell who has been laid low by a stomach bug in the past few days and will be expected to go with two spinners again following Monty’s heroics. Which would mean no place in the starting line-up for Steven Finn.
