Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight Is Off, Says Promoter

Pacquiao Could Fight Yuri Foreman Instead

Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has said that the hotly anticipated megafight between his boxer and Floyd Mayweather Jr is not going to happen.

Fightnews.com reports that the Filipino star, who was bidding to solidify his place as the number one pound-for-pound pugilist on the planet, is now expected to move up to the super-welterweight division to challenge WBA champion Yuri Foreman instead.

Arum claimed that Pacquiao, despite being an 11/8 underdog at Coral (Go to Coral »), was willing to face-off with Mayweather in the ring, but the unbeaten American - 8/13 at 888Sport (Go to 888sport ») - was not.

PacMan would likely be a big favourite to defeat Foreman, who despite never being beaten before is considered to be one of the weaker belt holders in his weight class and has yet to face such a highly regarded fighter.

If successful, Pacquiao would be the first man ever to win titles in eight different divisions.
