Ruiz: I Don't Want Haye To Make Excuses When He Losses

Ruiz Has A New Training Regime

American John Ruiz has stated that David Haye should not underestimate him when the two fight for the WBA heavyweight title on April 3rd.

Nicknamed The Quiet Man, Ruiz told Sky Sports News that he does not want Haye to make up excuses for why he lost, should he be defeated.

"I'm there for the long haul," he remarked. "For David Haye to think about anybody else is going to be a big problem."

According to the 38-year-old, preparing in a new camp alongside mentor Miguel Diaz has made all the difference to his fighting style.

He added that Diaz has enabled him to become more of a fighter rather than a slugger, while the trainer himself predicted Ruiz to clinch the title through a decision.

However, Haye remains the favourite with the majority of bookmakers and both Betfair (Go to Betfair ») and Skybet (Go to Skybet ») are offering odds of 1/5 that the Londoner will retain his belt.
