James: Pompey Will Stay Afloat

James Says It Will Be Good For Football If The Club Stays In Business

David James has expressed his belief that Portsmouth will manage to overcome the financial problems that have been in the headlines for the last few months.

Pompey recently had another change of leadership after businessman Balram Chainrai seized operation of the club after he failed to receive a number of promised loan payments.

However, James noted that the importance for all those involved in keeping Portsmouth afloat is too big to be ignored.

He remarked: "It's not going to be easy and whoever it is who helps us out we'll thank them now, but it's important we stay in business."

The south coast-based team recently reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after defeating local foes Southampton 4-1.

However, there chances of lifting the trophy are slim, according to the bookmakers, with Betfair (Go to Betfair ») offering odds of 28-1 on them winning.

Betdaq (Go to Betdaq ») consider Chelsea the favourites at 117/100.
