Fergie: Rooney Is One Of The Best
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has commended Wayne Rooney after the striker's performance in the first leg of the team's Champions League contest against AC Milan.
The Reds came back from a goal behind to defeat the Italian side at the San Siro 3-2, with Rooney clinching the second and third goals for the Old Trafford club.
Commenting on the frontman's potential this year, Sir Alex said he could hit the back of the net 30 times before the campaign is over.
He remarked: "This season in particular, over the last two months, there has been a marked improvement in his game."
Confidence is an important factor and he was "absolutely devastating" when facing AC Milan, the coach added.
United fell behind to a Ronaldinho strike that took a massive deflection off Johnny Evans, before Paul Scholes and Rooney put them ahead 3-1, with Clarence Seedorf getting a late consolation.
Rooney is currently a 1/7 favourite with Skybet (Go to Skybet ») to be the Professional Footballers' Association Players' Player of the Year, while Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») has Chelsea's Didier Drogba at 11/2.
