Owen: I want Premier League action
Michael Owen has revealed that he is unlikely to stay at newly-relegated Newcastle United after a number of clubs have shown interest. The former Liverpool player told Sky Sports that while he is still signed to the north-east side he did not believe he would stay. He said: "I don't think I am going to be offered a new contract and I want to play in the Premier League or a top division somewhere else."Owen also revealed that although offers had come from a number of teams abroad, he definitely preferred English football. Hull, who are 10/11 at Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») to get relegated from the Premier League in 2010, are allegedly interested in signing the striker but the England-capped player admits he was unaware of their attention. It would be unfair to Newcastle to speculate on his proposed move after four enjoyable years with the club, he also remarked. The St James' Park club are still favourites to get promoted from the Championship next year, despite Owen's rumoured departure. Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») offers odds of 17/10 for the side to go up next season.
