Football Betting News - England Favourites Against Belarus

Ferdinand Mistake Led To Red Card For Green

England are the favourites to win their final qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup against Belarus, despite losing to Ukraine on Saturday (October 10th).

The 1-0 defeat in Dnipropetrovsk brought Fabio Capello's undefeated run in competitive games to an end, with a 29th minute strike by Serhiy Nazarenko providing the only goal of the game.

A Rio Ferdinand blunder got England off on the wrong foot when he misjudged a high ball resulting in keeper Robert Green hauling down Artem Milevskiy in the penalty area.

The West Ham shot-stopper became the first England goalie to be sent off during a match after referee Damor Skomina pointed to the spot.

Andriy Shevchenko sent David James the wrong way, but the ball hit the post and away to safety.

Ukraine finally opened the scoring when Ashley Cole gave away possession on the edge of his area, with Milevskiy shooting successfully from 20 yards when his strike deflected in off the Chelsea defender.

However, Stan James (Go to Stan James ») is expecting England to recover, favouring them heavily at 1/8, while Belarus are available at 20/1 with Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports »).
