Football Betting - Purslow: Rafa's Job Is Safe

Benitez Is Not Going To Lose His Job, Says Purslow

Rafael Benitez's coaching job at Liverpool is completely safe, the club's managing director has claimed.

Despite Benitez being one of the bookmakers' favourites to be next out of work, Chris Purslow told Sky Sports 2 that the side's exit out of the UEFA Champions League last night (November 24th) will not cause the former Valencia boss to lose his position.

"I'm on the record as saying Rafa's signed a new five-year contract, he's four months into that contract so to discuss [Benitez getting sacked] is not appropriate," Purslow remarked.

The Reds were dumped out of the Champions League despite winning 1-0 at Debrecen, as they required Lyon to defeat Fiorentina, which the French team failed to do.

Benitez is currently third favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be shown the door, with Skybet (Go to Skybet ») offering odds of 7/1 on this eventuality.

Hull coach Phil Brown is considered most likely by Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») and is available at 4/6.
