Drysdale to make Open debut
Scotland's David Drysdale qualified for golf's Open Championship in Turnberry for the first time in his career on Monday. He had previously played as a marker for John Daly in the Open 17 years ago but has failed to qualify as an official participant in nine attempts since. Speaking about his experiences playing with Daly, he said: "I was 17 and it was a big buzz. It would be just great if I got to play with Daly again, he was fantastic." Drysdale, who hit a hole-in-one on the tenth at the Sunningdale qualifier, shot rounds of 65 and 66 to secure one of ten spots in the Open by finishing joint third. England's Graeme Storm scored a record eight-under 62 in the first round of two before finishing top of the leaderboard with Rafa Echenique on ten under. Tiger Woods is favourite to win the Open with most bookmakers and can be bought at odds of 11/4 at Betfred (Go to Betfred »). Padraig Harrington is available at 14/1 with Extrabet (Go to Extrabet »).
