Brennan Outlines Gold Cup Hopes For Commander

The Race Will Be At Cheltenham

Appearing in the Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup is Imperial Commander's main aim for next month, the horse's jockey has claimed.

Paddy Brennan stated that while Kauto Star and Denman are the obvious favourites for the race, he holds high hopes of an upset.

"There are two horses in there that are going to be very hard to beat but anything can happen in a horse race, you just have to see our 100-1 winner on Saturday," he remarked.

According to the Irishman, Imperial Commander - who finished just shy of a victory against Kauto Star in last season's Ryanair Chase - Cheltenham is his preferred venue.

If any of the front-runners for the feature make a mistake, the event could be there for the taking, he added.

Imperial Commander is currently available at 12/1 with Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power »), while race sponsor Totesport (Go to Totesport ») considers Kauto Star as the most likely to win at 5/4.

Denman is also favoured by many bookmakers, including Blue Square (Go to Blue Square »), at odds of 2/1.
