Buxton Agrees Gloucester Stay

Buxton Has Been At The Club For Seven Years

Gloucester Rugby is to keep the services of long-serving player Peter Buxton for another two years.

The athlete, who plays in the second row and on the blindside flank, has been in the squad for seven years, with the club describing him as one of the "most durable and consistent performers" in recent times.

Nicknamed Bucko by the Kingsholm fans, Buxton said he had no intentions of moving elsewhere.

"I've been here a long time and it's home to me," he remarked. "It's a great club with fantastic supporters."

Buxton made his 200th appearance for Gloucester last Sunday (January 24th) and captained the side in their win over London Irish in the European Challenge Cup four years ago.

According to the 31-year-old, he is "really happy" to be part of a team that is well on the way to better things.

Gloucester are currently rank outsiders to win the Guinness Premiership this season, with Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») and Stan James (Go to Stan James ») both offering odds of them pulling it off.
