Jenkins Withdrawal To Affect Wales's Odds?

Jenkins Failed A Fitness Test

Prop Gethin Jenkins will not feature against England in Wales's opening Six Nations match-up this weekend.

Jenkins failed to pass a fitness test yesterday (February 4th), having picked up a calf problem in training.

His withdrawal could affect Wales's chances of overcoming England at Twickenham tomorrow, with the latter team a favourite with a number of bookmakers including, Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet ») and Betfred (Go to Betfred ») at 4/7.

Commenting on the development, Wales head coach Warren Gatland said: "Obviously it’s not ideal for us to lose Gethin at this stage and we wish him a speedy recovery."

The 29-year-old will be replaced by Ospreys prop Paul James, with Rhys Gill of the Saracens taking up the spare seat on the bench.

According to Gatland, James has been one of the best props in the Welsh regions throughout the season so far, adding that he is confident the athlete will be more than just a fill-in for the injured Jenkins.
