Hamilton sets fastest time in F1 testing
Lewis Hamilton posted the fastest lap time of anyone in pre-season Formula One testing around the Jerez circuit in Spain this week.While Ferrari, Toyota and BMW Sauber had to abandon testing in Bahrain, the reigning F1 champion managed a time of 1 min 20.737 secs from his 93 laps in the new MP4-24 McLaren-Mercedes, 0.001 secs ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull RB5.Kazuki Nakajima of Williams was 0.161 secs off the pace, while Fernando Alonso was a further 0.4 secs back in his Renault.None of the vehicles proved faster than the 2008 Toro Rosso, which was being tested by Sebastien Buemi.Hamilton is the favourite to retain his F1 crown this year in the motor racing betting, ahead of Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. Alonso is the fourth best backed driver, while Vettel is the eighth favourite.Meanwhile, Ferrari remain the favourites to hang on to their constructors' title.
