Mixed fortunes for Hull FC

Byrne requires knee surgery

Hull FC have received mixed news ahead of tomorrow's visit to Huddersfield Giants, when they will attempt to extend their unbeaten start to the season to four games.Full-back Todd Bryne could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after damaging an anterior cruciate ligament in the second game of the season, as he will need knee reconstruction surgery. The 30-year-old Australian had left the field against Celtic Crusaders, before returning to play on.Head coach Richard Agar remarked: "He is a player we are going to miss because he has made a big contribution during the time he has been at the club."However, a boost has come with the news that Richard Whiting is set to turn out for the reserves against the Giants this evening.Whiting could soon make a return to first-team action after sustaining a double leg break ten months ago - that coming just three games after he recovered from a broken arm.Hull are currently in third place in Super League, with champions Leeds Rhinos topping the table as the only other unbeaten side.
