St Helens prop banned for illegal tackle

Fa'asavalu will play no part in Friday's game

St Helens will be without Maurie Fa'asavalu for the Super League visit of Salford City Reds on Friday, after the prop was given a one-match ban.The England international was found guilty of using an illegal tackling technique by a during last weekend's 4-0 victory over Celtic Crusaders.According to a Rugby Football League disciplinary panel, the 'chicken-wing' tackle "places undue pressure on the joints of players".The suspension means Fa'asavalu will not be able to compete this week, but will return for the visit of Leeds Rhinos on Friday March 20th.Meanwhile, Challenge Cup holders Saints have been drawn against Leeds - who beat them in last year's Super League grand final - in the fourth round of this year's knockout tournament.St Helens are currently given odds of 3/1 to successfully defend the trophy, with the Rhinos the slight favourites in the online sports betting market at 11/4.
