Shanklin won't be heading to South Africa

Tom Shanklin has become the latest player to be ruled out of the British & Irish Lions tour of South Africa through injury.The Wales centre needs reconstructive surgery after landing awkwardly on his shoulder while playing for Cardiff Blues against the Dragons on Wednesday (May 6th).And having seen his first Lions tour come to an early end four years ago, he is set to miss out altogether this time around after it was confirmed that he will be sidelined for around four months.The Lions are currently 9/4 outsiders with Centrebet for the three-Test summer series, with world champions South Africa priced 21/50. Gamebookers, meanwhile, gives the Springboks odds of 2/5 and has the tourists at 2/1, while a draw is priced 20/1.Munster and Ireland scrum-half Tomas O'Leary will also miss the trip, having fractured his ankle shortly after head coach Ian McGeechan announced his 32-man squad.
