Relegation battle heads towards climax

Shearer remains confident

The Premier League season comes to a close on Sunday, with the fate of four relegation-threatened clubs still in the balance.Sunderland, Hull City, Newcastle United and Middlesbrough will all be attempting to avoid joining West Bromwich Albion in dropping to the Championship. As it stands, Newcastle and Boro are in the bottom three, but just four points separate all four teams.Sunderland and Hull can avoid relegation with victories, but they face Chelsea and recently-crowned champions Manchester United respectively. And although Newcastle will need one of them to slip up, Magpies boss Alan Shearer is "convinced" his men can survive in the top flight."I'm 100 per cent confident we can get out of this," he told nufcTV. "I've had a good response from the players this week and we have one last chance to save ourselves."Newcastle travel to face Aston Villa and are priced 1/2 to go down by Skybet, while Middlesbrough - who visit West Ham United - are given odds of 1/50 by Coral Betting to be relegated.
