Carlo Ancelloti is new Chelsea coach

Carlo Ancelloti has been named as the new Chelsea manager, after stepping down as AC Milan coach at the weekend.The club stated they were "delighted" by the appointment, commenting: "Carlo was the outstanding candidate for the job." A three-year deal for the 49-year old commencing on July 1st 2009 was confirmed today. Chelsea went on to say that the former Rosseneri boss had a proven track record in European and domestic competitions as a manager, underpinned by a successful playing career. Ancelloti managed Milan for eight years, in which time he won Serie A and secured two Champions' League trophies.He will be the third manager the Blues have had inside a year, after Filipe Scolari was sacked in February and Guus Hiddink returned to coach the Russian national team over the weekend.Odds on Chelsea topping the Premier League for next season currently stand at 10/3 with Totesport. Manchester United are favourites to retain the crown at 11/8 on Skybet.
