Warrington Wolves secure stand-off

Warrington Wolves have secured a contract with Lee Briers securing the player's services for a further year at the rugby league side. The 31-year-old has committed his future to the team until 2010 and coach Tony Smith has commended Briers' abilities. He said: "He is certainly one of the brightest rugby league talents in the game and I look forward to continuing to work with him next season."Smith also confirmed that the stand-off and himself share a "good working relationship" and both are aware of each other's requirements. Vinnie Anderson and youngster Mike Cooper have also confirmed one-year extensions to their contracts, with the coach remarking that the latter is working towards becoming a frequent first-team candidate. Currently third-favourites to win the Super League Grand Final, Warrington are 14/1 with bookmaker Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports »).
