Schu: I love challenges

Schumacher admits a neck injury

Michael Schumacher has confirmed he loves the challenge of competing in Formula One again.

Ahead of the 40-year-old's comeback to the sport after three years of retirement, the German has stated the reaction from fans has given him "a flush of positive energy".

He remarked: "I accepted the challenge and as you all know I love challenges. It seems as if my fans love them too."

Commenting on his training, he said it is "going well", although he confirmed a slight complaint with his neck.

Schumacher will replace Ferrari's Felipe Massa, after the Brazilian received a head injury when a spring from countryman Rubens Barrichello's Brawn car came loose and hit him.

According to the seven-time World Championship winner, he has lost three kilograms in preparation for his return.

Stan James (Go to Stan James ») currently has Brawn driver Jenson Button as the most likely candidate to win this year's world championship and is giving odds of 10/11.

Chances of Schumacher achieving a top-three finish are calculated at 8/1 with Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet »).
