Ferrari president 'hopes Schu return will boost the team'

Di Montezemolo was sceptical that Schu would return

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has admitted he hopes Michael Schumacher's return to Formula One will be a "positive morale boost" for the team.

Talking to Die Welt, he said engineers in the team could not wait for the 40-year-old's return as they all want to work with him.

Despite this, di Montezemolo admitted he is "not expecting miracles" from the German and neither are the fans.

The 61-year old said he had been sceptical of even convincing the seven-time world champion to race again.

He remarked: "[Schumacher] never gave me the impression that he was bored or desperately looking for a new challenge. All of us in Ferrari wanted to see him again in an F1 race."

Jenson Button is currently considered the favourite to win this season's Formula One World Championship, with Skybet (Go to Skybet ») offering odds of 10/11.

Betfred (Go to Betfred ») considers Schumacher to be an outside bet at 100/1.
