Tennis Betting - Safin Kremlin Cup Odds Better After Davydenko Victory

Safin Is Retiring After This Tour

Marat Safin's odds of winning the Kremlin Cup have jumped with most bookmakers after the Russian beat fellow countryman Nikolay Davydenko 4-6 6-4 6-2 in the opening round.

Safin fought back from a set down to clinch the win over the top seed and is now second favourite at 5/2 with Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») to win the tournament.

The 29-year-old will be retiring at the end of this season's ATP Tour and admitted "any match could be my last".

Commenting on his opponent, he stated that he had been concerned about facing world number six Davydenko "because he's been in such a great form lately but I served and returned well and capitalised on his mistakes".

Favourite to win the tournament is Mikhail Youzhny, with Ladbrokes (Go to Ladbrokes ») offering 11/8 odds of him taking the title.

Youzhny, seeded third in the event, despatched Italian Potito Starace 6-1 6-1 to proceed into the next round.
